Here are the members of the D J Colom & Co team:
David Colom, FCA Principal
Experience: David Colom trained in the City of London qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1981. Since then he has spent his entire working life in practice serving small and medium sized businesses. The practice of D J Colom & Co Chartered Accountants was established in 1989 and since then has been focused on providing a first class and highly personal service to small and medium sized companies.
Outside Work: In addition to being a practising accountant, David is also a director of two property companies investing and trading in commercial real estate, in particular office buildings located in London and Home Counties.
Tajinder Bhalla, MBA CTA Director of Tax
Experience: Tajinder is our Director of Taxation. He is a Barrister and was called to the Bar in 1988. Prior to joining D J Colom & Co, Tajinder spent 20 years dealing with various aspects of taxation including advising international corporate clients on both direct and indirect taxation issues. He has appeared on behalf of clients in the High Court. He has extensive experience working in both taxation and commercial director roles leading global indirect taxes for major international companies. He has also previously worked for Price Waterhouse Coopers and Deloitte as a Tax Director. Tajinder provides a commercial edge to his advice having specialist experience in Stamp Duty Land Tax planning, strategies for high net worth individuals and tax efficient financial structures.
David Lynch FCA FCCA Associate
Experience: David qualified as a Chartered Accountant with first time passes in 1974, admitted as a Fellow in 1980 and is a member of the Tax Faculty. In 1980 he was admitted as a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. After qualifying he spent 3 years with Deloitte, Haskins and Sells (now PWC) initially in one of the principal London audit groups and latterly in the London Executive Office. This was followed by 8 years in a City firm (group audit manager) and 14 years as senior audit partner in a 5 partner West End firm. He is a Registered Auditor.
David brings a wealth of experience to the firm gained over many years, covering a wide range of businesses and industries including companies, partnerships, sole traders, actors, charities, business start-ups, business plans and pop groups, etc together with considerable general practice experience particularly in looking after owner-managed businesses and professional clients.
He provides practical advice in supporting clients and is passionate about working closely with clients to help them achieve their goals and vision through the development of their businesses. He has a history of building strong relationships and ensures that client expectations are met quickly and efficiently. Busy business owners need access to good advice quickly; clients know that if they have a problem they can always rely on David who will be on hand to help.
Chandu Shah FCCA Manager
Experience: Chandulal Shah (B.Sc.(Hons), M.M.S.,FCCA) - Chandu is our senior accounts manager. He is a qualified Chartered Certified Accountant and has been a Fellow of the Association of Certified Accountants since 1998. Chandu has worked in accountancy practice for over 22 years with extensive experience advising small and medium sized clients in general business, entertaining, media, building trade and consultancy fields. In addition he has provided extensive assistance to clients with their statutory financial reporting requirements, record and book-keeping systems and statutory reporting requirements, management accounting, budgeting and forecasting reports. Chandu is well versed with accounts production software and able to assist in setting up and improving existing client systems.
Navin Shah
Experience: Navin Shah joined D J Colom & Co in 1996 and manages the firm's umbrella company department.
Lynette Moore
Experience: Lynette joined D J Colom & Co in 1998 having previously worked for a quoted telecoms company as a manager for many years. Lynette manages the firm's payroll department, dealing with all aspects of payroll administration and production.
Jackie Pearce
Experience: Jackie joined D J Colom & Co in 2002 initially working as David Colom's personal assistant but now training to become a Certified Chartered Accountant. Jackie now manages the production of personal tax returns and small company accounts production.
Laura Levy
Laura is David's personal assistant and has over 20 years secretarial experience.
